Walking around Ireland June 2016 - Walkers wanted

Jennifer Rooks Queensland, Australia is looking for company on a Walk around Ireland

In June/July 2016 my sister Sue McGann and I will be walking in the footsteps of our O’Sullivan ancestors from Leitrim to Castletownbere. This walk is known as the O’Sullivan March or the Beara Breifne Way, a distance of 500klms which we will complete over 5 weeks finishing in our family County of Cork.
 
We have decided to walk for Cancer Queensland in memory of our brothers Lloyd and Kerry Charles and brother –in laws John Rooks and Dennis McGann who have suffered and died from the disease. We have promised Cancer Queensland that we will raise $5000 before we leave Australia and they have helped set up a Cancer Donation site. So far we have raised nearly $4000.

July Calendar

The walk dates and walking distances have been set and I am now organizing accommodation for each night. We are still having some difficulty locating places in the smaller villages and we are now requesting some help. We are hoping that some walking groups along the track would like to walk some day/s with us to keep us company and tell us about the history of the area as we are only Irish descent. We are also organizing for our main backpacks to be delivered each day or every few days and we will only carry a day/s pack. We may need some help with this also.
