Burren Peaks Weekend of Walking Festival Sept 11th - 13th 2015Ballyvaughan Fanore Walking Club's festival weekend promises you a real taste of the Burren and offers guided hill and lowland walks varying in distance and grade catering for all walkers making the weekend An unforgettable way to explore this limestone landscape. In the evening after your walk, enjoy some good food and traditional music in the local pubs before retiring for the evening. Friday Evening, 11th September. Our Burren Peaks weekend of walking commences with a Twilight walk overlooking Fanore. Enjoy a 2.5hr “taster” walk. Hear all about the local flora, fauna, geology and landscape of the Burren while out on the trail taking you from Fanore village up through Ballyelly onto the Caher Valley walking by Faunarooska Castle ruins before you turn for home and see the lights of Connemara and the Aran Islands while the sun goes down on Galway Bay. Choose from Ultra, Strenuous, Moderate or Easy walk, all walks taking you into the heart of the Burren and led by members of the local walking club.. Groups, Clubs, and Individual Walkers welcome. Pre-Booking of walks essential. Entry fees from €5, Friday evening walk is free for all walkers. Closing date for entries 5th Sept. This festival is made possible by the goodwill of the local landowners who have given the Ballyvaughan Fanore Walking Club permission to walk across their property for the event.
