Thank you for your support!
Here is all the information that you will need in the run-up to and on the day of our 10km Run/Walk in aid of Action Breast Cancer and the Irish Cancer Society.
Where To Meet Up?
The Run/Walk will start from the Church Car Park on Headfort Place at 2pm sharp. We will have a fun warm-up session and musical entertainment beforehand, so please get there early. We ask that all participants are on site by 1.15pm.
Can I Still Enter?
Online registrations are open here until midnight on Friday September 25th. If you register after midnight on Wednesday September 23rd, we will not have time to post out your sponsorship card - but we will have it ready for you to collect at our Check-In Desks. You can also pick up a registration form from many local businesses. You can also register and collect your t-shirt and race number at the Check-In Desk at the Parish Hall (Church Car Park) between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday September 26th or between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Sunday September 27th. If you are registering on the day, then please get there early to allow yourself enough time. Thank you!
How Much Does It Cost To Take Part?
The entry fee to take part in the Pink Ribbon Walk is €20 per participant. This non-refundable entry fee covers the administration and various costs (health and safety, insurance, printing, etc.) involved in organising the Walk. For this entry fee, you will receive:
We are very excited about our lovely scenic route! This year's Run/Walk starts and finishes in Kells and takes a circular route around Maudlin, Cherry Hill and the grounds of Headfort House. Some local landowners have generously agreed to open their fields to us for the purpose of the Walk - so the route is exclusively open only for the day of the event. The cross-country/road route really showcases our beautiful scenery. The Walk will finish back at the Town Hall on Headfort Place and then we will enjoy food, our Closing Ceremony and post-race entertainment in the Headfort Arms Hotel.
I've Already Registered - Where Do I Pick Up My T-Shirt and Race Number?
Collect your t-shirt and race number at the Check-In Morning at the Parish Hall (Church Car Park) between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday September 26th between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Sunday September 27th. If you are registering on the day, then please get there early to allow yourself enough time.
How Much Sponsorship Do I Have To Raise?
We promise you a fun day out, but we are primarily a fundraiser for Action Breast Cancer and the Irish Cancer Society. Each participant is asked to try to raise €100 in sponsorship money (in addition to the €20 entry fee). Every cent of sponsorship money goes directly to the charity. You have until Monday October 12th to hand in your fundraising. Thank you for your support.
Where Do I Hand In My Sponsorship Money?
You can hand in your sponsorship money at:
• At the Check in Desk in the Parish Hall, in the Church car park on Headfort Place from 3m to 6pm on Saturday September 26th
• At the Registration Desk in the Parish Hall from 11.30am to 1.30 pm on Sunday September 27th
• At Kells Chamber of Commerce Office, Carrick Street, Kells - either before the Walk or before Monday October 12th
Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to Boyne Valley Pink Ribbon Walk.
Please make sure your sponsorship card (with your sponsorship total written on the front) and sponsorship money are in a sealed envelope with your name, race number (the red number on the front of your sponsorship card) and sponsorship total printed on the front. All sponsorship money must be handed in by Monday October 12th. Many thanks for your support.
Can Children Take Part?
The minimum age to take part is 12 years and those under the age of 18 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult. We request that there is at least one adult present for every two under-age walkers.
Where Can I Park My Car?
There will be ample free car parking around Kells on the day of the Walk.
What Should I Wear?
Weather-appropriate clothes and sturdy walking boots are advisable. And THINK PINK - wear your Boyne Valley Pink Ribbon t-shirt and accessorize accordingly. We have some great prizes on offer for the best fancy dress outfits!
We'll also be on hand with solutions for all weather eventualities - from sunscreen to pink rain ponchos! There will be toilet and litter facilities along the route and we will provide water - but we recommend that you carry some water and a snack with you in a backpack.
